Tuesday, December 07, 2010 was my one year anniversary of Crossfit and it almost felt like a birthday. A birthday because like most “aging” people, the limitations you begin to experience as you get older are written off or dismissed as “getting older”. After one year at Silverback and Crossfit, I do not feel the degeneration of my ability to manage through life. So that explains the birthday comment.
I cannot post any health benefit numbers as some of the Silverback nation has in the past because, quite frankly, I am guy and we don’t go to the doctor unless something is sticking out of our body and “manning up” won’t fix it. I can say with certainty that I am healthier, stronger, sharper, and leaner.
The mind-set of how to work out I carried through-out my life has been shattered and I has been replaced by Crossfit and it is truly a “way-of-life”. Starting my day at 05:00 A.M. at Silverback is not always easy or pleasurable. Hearing ‘get deeper’ when you think your butt is resting on your calves isn’t always received well or staring down a potential 25:+ minute WOD with various lifts, swings and rows isn’t something that excites me at 05:25 A.M. but I take control and grip-it and rip-it.
Going Paleo (sp?) wasn’t something I embraced but it is my new way to eat (most times as I still want my beer). Lynn, thank you for staying the course on the Paleo diet (no more Paleo pancakes!) but keep the dinners and muffins (and yes, this is the only time the word muffin should be used on our web-site – Christina) coming.
To all the newbies, keep coming and fight through the always new appearing aches and pains. I can testify that it is well worth it. Matt thanks for the venue and your constant encouragement. Zach thanks for introducing me and by extension your Mom to Crossfit. You probably kept us in your and Corey’s life longer (double edge sword). To the Silverback nation, thanks for the camaraderie, encouragement, and friendship and I look forward to many more years / birthdays to come.

Well put, Jim. You kick my 32 year old butt most mornings (by 36 reps this morning if I recall correctly). Most guys my age would be satisfied with just half of your vigor and spirit.

Great to finally meet back up with the traditional FGB at the box today. Everyone did a great job today, some meeting FGB for the first time and tackling it full bore Rx’ed.

This is only the 2nd time I have done it, last only totaling a score of 219 today about a year after the first meeting racked up a 324. Love this WOD every time it comes around.

Love this WOD. Wish I am able to do it.
    Really miss my Silverback family.
Wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

259, down from 286 in January. That can’t be right, can it? I haven’t done the full Brad analysis yet (the Cray supercomputer is unavailable for a few days), but I suspect something was different between that one and today.

Lots of strong numbers today. Zach was on a different level. Nice job.
