Last year, a record number of members tried their hand at CrossFit “competition.” This year, there’s a new SCALED division in the OPEN, so we expect even more.
At Silverback we want to educate and inspire. Competition helps with the ‘inspire’ the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; dozens of your friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher. Heck, watching your teammates GO will inspire.
Personally, I still get butterflies every OPEN workout. But pressure alone is no fun, so this year to keep it fun and everyone involved we will host the SILVERBACK INTRAMURAL CUP. We are looking for the most motivated, most fun, ready for anything group in the box. And if you do well in the workouts, that’s gravy.
We’re going to have four intramural teams competing and you’re going to be on one of them.
GAME ON every Friday during the OPEN at FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: This is food, friends, competition and music. CrossFit Silverback is the new Friday Happy Hour. 5:30 to 7:30.
The Four Intramural teams don’t have names yet and their Captains will be chosen this week.
Our captains are not our traditional top scorers or coaches, we looking for folks with a high fun factor. We really want every one of you to sign up this year.
Every athlete registered for the Open will be drawn from a hat. Team Captains will rotate draws, and then notify the athletes of their team. The ‘Draft Party’ will take place the week before the Open begins (Feb 20-26th sometime.)
HOW DO YOU WIN? SHOW UP, TRY YOUR BEST and HAVE FUN! Seriously.
+1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open event at FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!
+1 Point – Top 3: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 for each workout gets an extra point for their team.
+5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points.
+5 Points (bonus) – 6th workout: see below.
In 2015, athletes competing in the Open will have only four days to complete each workout. We will be hosting FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, 5:30 to 7:30 Feb 27th to March 28th. The Open will have five workouts; we have a BONUS tournament planned for the following week.
We’ll have some random draws each week for prizes, including gear, supplements, and training packages. The top team will also earn a GRAND prize. Details released soon!
Our focus is on FUN. We want participation because it will make you fitter, and it will get you high-fives, love life more and glow and stuff.
