I was supposed to visit the doctor on Monday, and for the first time in YEARS I was excited to get weighed and have my blood pressure taken. Over the last three years both of these have creeped up slowly, and I didn’t notice because I thought I felt pretty good (I actually felt like a big greasy wad of human when i look back hah) Well, my appointment fell through, so I can’t cite official numbers (I don’t own a scale…in fact I boycott them), but I wanted to share my other victories from the past few months.
1. I am wayyyy more comfortable in my body. My body is sooooooo much happier, my clothes are too big (goodbye pajama jeans!), and I’ve stopped avoiding mirrors and dressing to hide “problem areas”
2. My body is moving! Everything is easier now…and I mean EVERYTHING. Running, lifting Edwin, hour long dance parties where I throw my legs over Edwin, my insane habit of moving furniture by myself, waking up and going to sleep, carrying the vacuum upstairs on my back. I owe this 100% to Crossfit Silverback. That is a magical place where you can push yourself to accomplish so much more than you even imagine. Ya’ll, I’ve had trainers, gym memberships, done p90x, I’ve done it all. Nothing compares to the results, the feeling of pride and the community you feel while there.
3. I’m proud of myself. I’m proud for hearing my doctor say “you’re gaining two pounds a year for 6 years” and for once not blowing him off. I’m mostly proud that I’m finally treating my body as the incredibly, amazing thing that it is.
