Biography

CF Athlete 10 years, CF Coach 7

Started CrossFit while active duty in the Marine Corps.  Following a serious combat injury in 2004 and four months of inactivity Matt gained fifty-five pounds Matt before returning to full duty. Running in the morning, cardio and weightlifting at lunch, and the “dreadmill” after work the results didn’t match the effort.   Even more he realized there weren’t enough hours in the day to work, for family and get control of health and weight issues.  In 2005 after extensive research for a new solution he found CrossFit, getting people high horse power results in quick focused workouts. Three months of CrossFit programming and healthy eating turned 50 pounds of excess into “my best shape ever”, including boot camp! Hungry for even bigger and better results he began training with a coach at the first CF in Houston and jumped at the chance to become certified to teach CrossFit. Opening CF Silverback in 2009 and now trained over 1,000 athletes, “my greatest satisfaction remains helping people who don’t think of themselves as athletes realize their potential and a healthier more full life”.
