WOD: 10-08-2010

“5 Spices”  The weird name comes from the fact that all of these movements are usually supporting characters in a WOD.  So what happens when you put them together in an “ensemble”.  I don’t know but everybody liked “The Dirty Dozen” and “Airplane” (for the youngsters those are movies not WODs’).

For time 21,15,9 of the following movements:

Wall Ball

Ab-Mat Sit Ups

Box Jumps

Row (calories)

I just want to give a shout out to the 8:30 Girl-rillas. We saw some great numbers on Push Press and an overall outstanding effort in the WOD.

Tanya, Renee and Christine really pushed themselves during strength today and are definitely seeing the results.

Tracey you looked so good girlfriend! Lulu who??

Claudia you have come so far, no scaling today!!

No barbell or other equipment to go heavy on Push Press, so I went for reps.

    Dumbbell Push Press:
    18 Kg (39#) = 24 reps
    20 Kg (44#) = 20 reps
    22 Kg (48.5#) = 24 reps

WOD: 13:28 (had to do thrusters with 44# in place of wall balls and had to wait and restart the rower each time. Wish I would have had my Drew to chase!) Hotels are never the same as the Silverback box.

Did get to watch Arnold Strongman Classic on Eurosport. There are some freakishly strong people out there! American Poundstone took the honors with Texan Travis Ortmayer in third and a young American Brian Shaw in fifth. Some of the events went like this:

Dumbbell Clean & Jerk (one arm) 227#, Deadlift (winner 1027#s), and a Timber Carry Uphill (not sure on the weight but it was either 8 or 12 railroad type timbers) done for time over set distance. Very impressive.
