WOD: 11-10-2010

November 10th, 1775 Capt. Samuel Nicholas was commissioned by the Continental Congress to raise two battalions of Marines.  Knowing the kind of individuals the young service needed.  He proceeded immediately to the Tun Tavern in Philedelphia and set up recruiting with the owner offering a free pint to any that signed up.

For time 4 rounds (one for God, one for Country, one for the Corps and one for Chesty Puller)

Pukies (combination Burpee / Pull Up) x 17

Squats x 75

18:34 It would help to be over 6′ so you don’t have to work so hard to get to the bar. Ryan blasted through pukies doing 2 to my 1.

Ryan, Should I take it personal that your email came back to me? If you didn’t want to give it to me you could have just said so.

    Happy Birthday Marines!

Sorry Casey. My handwriting is poor to begin with and must have been especially so after the WOD

I have your floss plus a little birthday gift. I’ll leave it at the box in a sonicare bag.

Thanks Ryan, you just left off the 1 😉

Seriously, great job this morning Richard “Just call me Mr. Pukie” Simmons

22:24 was all “yeah, ok, final one to finish, whatever” but I got home and looked at last years results. I was doing such a scaled WOD- 50 sit ups on 2 rounds and 50 squats. Push ups against the weight bench for 2 rounds and sets of 17 for pull ups on a red band for the other 2 rounds.
Today I was modified, but I was able to do all the stuff that the others were doing who weren’t doing pukies. Yea, I was on a red band, but today I did 4 full rounds of 75 squats. Get this, I did it in a faster time than I did the modified WOD last year! If the legs weren’t all noodley I would do a happy dance. Thanks Matt!

Enjoyed the technique work alot. Not because it was easy but because the pressure to go heavy wasn’t there.

Lower back muscles were really screaming during the WOD due to my lack of mental fortitude yesterday. Birthday WOD 19:58 Rx with much motivation from Zach and Val chasing me all the way to the “line”.

Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller (June 26, 1898 – October 11, 1971) was an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Puller is the most decorated U.S. Marine in history, and the only Marine to receive five Navy Crosses.

During his career, he fought guerrillas in Haiti and Nicaragua, and participated in some of the bloodiest battles of World War II and the Korean War. Puller retired from the Marine Corps in 1955, spending the rest of his life in Virginia.

    gosh, where to start?

first, I expected Casey to beat my time, just thought it would be a larger difference (my time 18:36)
second, Ryan – where’s the time dude? If you smoked it, we want to see it
third, thanks to Matt for continuing the 1775 tradition. And congratulations for repeating a CFSB on its anniversary
Sivi – so you don’t feel ignored, the pukie is a burpee jumping up to a pullup.
Linda – congratulations on your improvement. Great stuff

great stuff tonight. Good training and wod.

I was pretty good at the pukies and horrible at executing 300 squats. My time was 20:34. If the wod was 20 pukies I might be bragging. It wouldn’t be a proper tribute to the marines if a newbie like me could smoke the wod I might have had Casey 2 for 1 on the pukies but she had me at least 3 for 1 on the squats. I’m just proud that I’ve been band free for a while now.

My avatar might be changing. I’ve gone from motivated yet not physically impressive to motivated yet not physically impressive with the self delusion that I might be somewhat physically impressive. When I’m ripped like Brad I will throw away all shirts that I own and never buy another.
