At the time we joined Silverback we were trying to get back on an exercise routine. We had been doing home exercise DVDs for a while but just getting bored! We were ready for something different when a neighbor said that we should give crossfit a try. We never heard of crossfit before but she was so excited about her accomplishments that we decided to check it out. Honestly, we were really intimidated by the super strong people we saw… We thought we were reasonably in shape until we walked into the box that one night…
You can’t really master crossfit, there’s always something that you can improve on either when it comes to technique or by increasing weights, so we knew that getting bored would never be an issue. We felt (and still feel) that we were being challenged on a daily basis and that’s really appealing to us. But the real icing on the cake is the sense of community and camaraderie that we experience every night at the box both with coaches and fellow athletes, that’s what keeps motivating us to get better. We just can’t get enough of such a positive environment!
If you told me 2 years ago that at 40 I would be in the best shape of my life doing pull-ups, handstand push-ups and rope climbing I’d say you’re nuts, but here I am! 🙂 In Leo’s case, it’s the muscle ups for sure, we’re very proud of that! On a personal level, crossfit brought us closer together as a couple – that’s our “we time” and it’s really great to share that passion with your best half!
